Hit Refresh On Social Media Strategies

The springtime is the perfect season for resetting, refreshing, and generally rebooting your marketing after the New Year. We often find ourselves making bold commitments about ourselves and our businesses heading into a new annum, and after a couple of months, it may be time to tweak or refresh your goals.

Social media is always evolving. For that reason, it’s even more important to stay on top of your social media game, which may mean hitting reset altogether. Here’s how.

Evaluate Your Audience

As a real estate agent and marketer, you likely already know your audience, but if it’s been a few years since you’ve really “ran the numbers” on who you’re marketing to, then now is a great time to re-evaluate. Your target buyer personas may not change much over time, but how you relate to them through social media may.

If you don’t have buyer personas already built out in your marketing plan, then you should start there. Buyer personas are a marketer’s way of identifying who they are marketing to and putting a name to a face so-to-speak. Buyer personas help you formulate and deliver messages with content tailored to the right people.

Make a Social Media Plan

Sometime during the first quarter of the year, our plans seem to fall by the wayside a little bit. From a marketing standpoint, that can start a vicious cycle of hammering social media followed by droughts in content. Make a social media/content plan and stick to it.

Marketers with a written plan and publication schedule planned well in advance are far more likely to stick to their marketing strategy and hit their goals. A written marketing program will give you and your team of agents a firm focus on what you’re working on and allow you to target content to specific holidays and sales periods.

Monitor Trends, but Avoid Trendiness

As we’ve already stated, social media is a game of trends. That said, there are always constantly evolving ways to market on social media and rising platforms to manage as a marketer. What’s important to remember when it comes to social media marketing is that trends will come and go, but tried and true strategies will remain.

Even more importantly, it would help if you stuck to the platforms and marketing that helped build your business in the first place. The revolving door of social media trends likely won’t hold water over time, so stay true to the proven platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn to keep your social media marketing on track.

Be a Problem Solver

As a real estate agent, your clients come to you with an expectation that you’ll be their problem solver. While buying or selling a home isn’t necessarily a problem per se, it is a challenge for the uninitiated. Part of solving the real estate puzzle for your clients is helping them through the financial side of the transaction.
